孪生姐妹的替代戏码略俗套。贫富悬殊，交际圈子和生活层次显然不同，想完全代入对方生活，必然漏洞频出。有两个方面削弱了姐妹性格的差异，一是在谋杀时具有同样的决绝（虽然对象不同）和心机，二是贝蒂•戴维斯的戾气和咄咄逼人，弱化了伊迪丝的所谓仁爱温情，使得两个角色的气质逐步趋同。仍然是一贯的“腹黑”贝蒂个人秀。
